The breaking news now is that her CLP are to discuss two motions to "no confidence" Luciana Berger. Politics Home reports:
Members in her Liverpool Wavertree constituency will hold a special meeting on 17 February to debate two motions condemning her behaviour.
Ms Berger, who is Jewish, has spoken out over Mr Corbyn's response to Labour's anti-semitism problems, as well as his approach to Brexit
Remember this a woman who has received some appalling abuse from Corbyn's supporters including death threats which resulted in her having to have police protection at Labour Party Conference. It seems the Corbynistas can tolerate racism and misogyny but not criticism of their "Dear Leader".
"No confidence " motion may not have any status in Labour's constitution but they are he first step towards deselection. Instead of supporting their MP the left would rather condemn her. What kind of "Labour Party" is this? Not kind at all. Certainly not my kind!
Meanwhile the trade union TESSA has commissioned a confidential poll which ITV News reports:
The Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA) trade union has commissioned confidential and detailed polling for the Jeremy Corbyn-supporting Momentum group that shows "Labour will get a lower share of the vote in every seat in the country if it has a pro-Brexit policy than if it has an anti-Brexit position".
A briefing paper based on the polling has been shared with leading members of the shadow cabinet, including John McDonnell, to increase pressure on Labour's leader Corbyn to come out in favour of a referendum.
The most powerful conclusion of the research is: "There can be no disguising the sense of disappointment and disillusionment with Labour if it fails to oppose Brexit and there is every indication that it will be far more damaging to the party's electoral fortunes than the Iraq war.
Yet Corbyn (who frankly has always been anti-EU) offers to help the Prime Minister with Brexit as this letter illustrates:
Such a move would:
The TSSA paper also says that the prospects for a new centrist party, which could massively undermine Labour's long term prospects, would be significantly enhanced "if Labour does not do more to oppose Brexit".
The polling shows "17% of Labour's 2017 vote would be 'very likely' to support a new centrist party committed to opposing or overturning Brexit. Another 27% say they would be 'fairly likely' to support a new centrist party".
Nearly half of Labour's voters based on current events could be persuaded to support a new centrist party. The time is coming for a break. But the MPs must prepare the groundwork and leave en-mass.
Corbyn and McCluskey have got it wrong. Let's kick the Marxist left back into the dustbin of history where it belongs.
