Editorial: Blogging against the Trend!

One of the privileges of living in a liberal democracy is being able to sit down in front of a keyboard and write whatever I want about whatever concerns me. Of course there are certain limitations such as libel laws, I can't just make things up especially about people nor can I incite racial hatred or violence against individuals or groups.

Fine by me. I may not like certain people, in fact I positively hate some I would never knowingly publish false information. Speculation is a fine line to tread but in this age of "fake news" due to every Tom, Dick and Howie having access to the Internet and able to publish blogs or websites one has to take a certain amount of responsibility for what appears on-line.

My blog was originally established as a sideline from an e-mail list that I sent to PCS members that got up the nose of the far-left in the PCS union and the General Secretary Mark Serwotka attempted to close down. He even attempted to get me to take down a post on my blog once because it "upset" a few self-important lefties in the HMRC.

Of course I quit PCS back in 2015, joined Prospect (a smaller trade union in the civil service) and then got very ill, so ill in fact I nearly died a couple of times during operations and spent over eight months in hospital. Without the NHS I would not be here to day. Thanks to them I have a new lease of life and I'm not going to waste it. Housebound I may currently be but in time I will heal and be able to do the simple things in life like pop out and get a newspaper.

So this blog has had to start again and garner an audience anew.

Of course one of the things I enjoy is writing about the issues that concern me. I can't cover everything so have to focus a wee bit. I have eclectic political views and am a pragmatist at heart which is why I fell out with the far-left in the first place. They are just unable to consider compromise, something being a trade unionist illustrated to me as an absolute necessity when dealing with real people over mainly micro-issues of employment.

The left only care about the "big picture", the "class struggle", "socialism". These aims require "sacrifice" and so they lose sight of the individual and their human rights. Economic equality is nothing without freedom, just oppressive and brutal. Human engineering on that scale cannot help but destroy peoples lives. It's an ideological imperative.

It doesn't matter whether they follow Marx, Lenin and or Trotsky or Stalin and or Mao, neither Castro nor Kim-Il Sung or Pol Pot. All roads led to oppression and mass murder. It's inherent in the intolerance of the basic freedoms we take for granted. The left do not believe in democracy. People like me would be imprisoned or shot.

Same thing would happen under fascism or Islamism except they'd have an extra reason, I'm Jewish and therefore both sub-human and part of a Zionist world conspiracy that controls all governments at the same time. Wish they'd make their minds up.. If only I were the latter maybe I'd be rich, but sad to say all these conspiracy theories that Jews are rich, controlling businessmen are a myth. I'm just a pensioner living in a tower block on an inner city council estate.

Yet I am not unhappy with my lot. I have much that others do not a loving girlfriend and cat and am able to feed myself, perhaps too well as I continue to pile on the weight, though I did drop to nine stone in hospital a loss of 40% of my body weight, quite frightening!

I stand firmly against the totalitarian ideologies and theologies Communism, fascism and Islamism and will continue to fight for human rights, particularly for women and gays, especially in the Muslim world where Christians and other religious minorities and atheists are persecuted to death. Too many, even on the progressive left are either to scared or ideologically twisted to stand up to Islam in its many extreme and conservative forms. They consider such as racist, even though Islam is clearly not a bleeding race.

At the same time despite being outside even the fringes of the Jewish community I will continue to stand up against anti-Semitism from both the far-left and the far-right. I will also stand up for Israel's continued existence against the so-called anti-imperialists who would not care a jot if there was a second genocide in order to achieve their aim of the sole Jewish nations destruction.

The left are anti-West. Corbyn is the figurehead of a new movement motivated by hate of everything we hold dear. They want to censor us, control us, tell us what to do and are Stalinists in all but name. Far from their false description of "new, kinder politics" they are nasty, overbearing potential dictators.

And possibly traitors as they would disarm our nation and leave us helpless against an increasingly hostile world with threats from Islamist terrorism, Russian and Chinese imperialism and other potential threats as yet undeveloped or identified. History teaches us that we must be prepared. Britain is not despite the rantings of the left a militaristic nation.

If the thirties taught us anything fascism must be opposed, that the far-left cannot be trusted and dictators cannot be appeased.

The centre ground may have fallen for now but reason will hopefully make it's way back to being mainstream once again. This blog will play a very small part in this but I will try my best both here and on Facebook where I spend much time campaigning.

I cordially invite you to join me both here at Howie's Corner and on my Facebook Page (see sidebar).

Postscript:

However life can't be all serious and I will continue to publish Musical Interludes with both old and new music along with the occasional Comedy Interlude and Sunday Supplement.

There's also been some changes to the recommended blogs and websites list. Some have been removed as they either defunct or I simply got bored with them. There are a variety of places to visit from the left to the right. No one has the "correct outlook" including me. Told you my politics were eclectic!

I have also introduced a couple of non-political links for Japanese Records and Radio. Talking of which here's the latest from Aldious which went on line today. These girls rock!
